Flu Facts

Influenza (flu) and COVID-19 are not the same thing

According to the CDC, COVID-19 can spread more easily and cause more serious complications for some people. There is currently no vaccine for COVID-19.

The flu vaccine cannot give you the flu

The flu vaccination is composed of inactive strains of the flu to help your body develop antibodies that will help fight it off if exposed

You can still spread the flu even if you aren’t experiencing symptoms

20-30% of people can carry the flu virus without feeling symptoms. Remember to wash your hands often and avoid touching your face!

You need to get a new flu shot every year to stay protected

A new flu shot is needed each fall because there are more than 100 strains of influenza, but only four strains can be included in each year’s flu shot.

COVID-19 Evaluations and Testing

We know that flu and COVID-19 symptoms can look and feel very similar - that’s why we’re here to evaluate and test each individual depending on their needs. In addition to flu shots and rapid flu and strep testing, we also offer COVID-19 diagnostic and antibody testing at all centers.
