Frequently Asked Questions

What type of COVID-19 vaccination is Northwell Health-GoHealth Urgent Care administering?
We are currently administering the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine.

How long after the first dose do I need to wait for the second dose?
The second COVID-19 vaccine dose should be administered at least 28 days after the first dose is administered. We recommend receiving the second dose as close to the recommendation as possible.

If I receive both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine should I still practice safety measures like wearing a mask and social distancing?
Yes, please continue to practice social distancing, mask wearing, and hand washing. While the vaccine is exceedingly effective, it is not perfect.  Safety measures are still very important, as only a limited number of people will be receiving the vaccine this winter and spring. Scientists are still investigating if a vaccinated person can still be asymptomatic with the virus, and it is always possible to physically spread the virus on hands or clothing even if someone is vaccinated.

Should my child/children receive the COVID-19 vaccine?
No, currently the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine is not available for children 17 and under due to the emergency vaccine trials not including children in the research.

How quickly does the COVID-19 vaccine start to work?
The COVID-19 vaccine begins to provide limited protection about 12 days after the first dose, though full efficacy begins 7 days after the second dose. We strongly recommend receiving both doses.
