Autism-friendly care for all

For some, simply coming in for urgent care can be a stress-inducing experience. And for our patients on the autism spectrum, the idea of meeting a doctor for the first time and being in a new, unfamiliar environment can create feelings of anxiety and being overwhelmed.

That is why we have partnered with Autism Speaks to help make our (Northwell Health-GoHealth Urgent Care centers more accessible to our neurodivergent patients and are happy to announce our official Autism-Friendly designation. This means our friendly and compassionate providers have completed special training, and our centers/exam rooms have been slightly modified to promote a safe, sensory-friendly environment so everyone can experience healthcare comfortably.
