Frequently Asked Questions

What is urgent care and how it it different from emergency department?

Urgent care is staffed by licensed medical providers who can see you for a variety of non-life-threatening illnesses and injuries like the flu, cough, twisted ankle, rashes, minor cuts and scrapes. Think of urgent care as a bridge between primary care and emergency care, only you don't need to book weeks in advance or waiting the entire day in the waiting room. Instead, you can save your spot by checking in online or simply walk in to any of our centers. However, unlike an emergency department, urgent care is not an appropriate place to come if you are concerned about stroke symptoms, chest pain or if you have any condition which you feel may be life-threatening.

Do I need an appointment?

No, you don't need an appointment. Walk-ins are always welcome. However, during the pandemic, we highly recommend that you save your spot online or call before you come into our center so that we prepare for your visit. Minimize your wait time and save your spot in advance. You can see nearby centers, available time slots and enter your registration information on our website to speed up the check-in process.

Who will I see there?

Mercy-GoHealth Urgent Care centers are staffed by licensed medical providers—physicians, physicians assistants, and nurse practitioners—who are all capable of evaluating and treating your conditions. You can be certain that you'll receive great care at any of our locations, no matter who you see.

Can I bring my child to Mercy-GoHealth Urgent Care for care?

Absolutely, we take care of children 6-months and older. Just like with adults, we treat non-life-threatening illnesses and injuries like colds, ear infections, cuts and minor fractures. And we can always refer your child to a hospital or specialist if more care if necessary. We also perform sports physical exams for school.

Do I need health insurance to be treated?

No, you don't need health insurance to be seen at Mercy-GoHealth Urgent Care. We offer same-day cash rates to patients who do not have health insurance. However, if you do have insurance, we are able to review it before you come in. We are in-network with most insurance carriers.
