Hartford HealthCare-GoHealth Urgent Care Announces Opening of New Urgent Care Center in Torrington, Conn.

Newly constructed Hartford HealthCare-GoHealth Urgent Care center will replace Charlotte Hungerford Hospital’s former urgent care walk-in center, less than a mile away

TORRINGTON, Conn. (January 14, 2019) – GoHealth Urgent Care, one of the country’s largest and fastest growing urgent care companies, together with its partner Hartford HealthCare, Connecticut’s most comprehensive healthcare network and affiliate of Charlotte Hungerford Hospital (CHH), today announced the opening of the newly constructed Hartford HealthCare-GoHealth Urgent Care center in Torrington, Conn.

Open as of today, the new Hartford HealthCare-GoHealth Urgent Care center is located at The Shops at Sky Top at 996 East Main Street in Torrington, less than a mile away from CHH’s former urgent care walk-in center at 1598 East Main Street, which closed its operations on January 13th. All patients in need of urgent care services should visit the new Hartford HealthCare-GoHealth Urgent Care center.

“We are thrilled to open our first Hartford HealthCare-GoHealth Urgent Care center to patients in Torrington, further expanding our partnership in Connecticut with Hartford HealthCare,” said Sarah Arora, northeast regional president of GoHealth Urgent Care. “We remain committed to our mission of providing unparalleled experiences and high-quality urgent care to people in places where they live and work, and we look forward to bringing this same level of care to the families of Northwest Connecticut.”

With this new center now open in Torrington, Hartford HealthCare-GoHealth Urgent Care’s network of urgent care centers across Connecticut has expanded to 16 locations. In addition, Hartford HealthCare-GoHealth Urgent Care plans to open a new center at Corbin’s Corner in West Hartford in early February.

“We want to thank all of the staff and providers of the Charlotte Hungerford Hospital walk-in center over the years for their dedicated work and support in providing a critical healthcare option to local patients. The announced changes and enhancements to the hospital’s urgent care services are part of a larger strategy for Charlotte Hungerford Hospital, the Northwest Region and across the Hartford HealthCare System,” said Dan McIntyre, senior vice president of Hartford HealthCare Northwest Region. “Our partnership with GoHealth Urgent Care continues to enable us to serve patients right here in our community.”

The new Hartford HealthCare-GoHealth Urgent Care center in Torrington will offer the same convenient services – onsite laboratory and X-rays, online check-in, electronic medical record integration, same day/walk-in visits and short wait times – as the CHH urgent care walk-in center. The new center will also provide virtual visits with a Hartford HealthCare-GoHealth Urgent Care provider via a mobile device, tablet or computer from wherever a patient is located in Connecticut. All Hartford HealthCare-GoHealth Urgent Care centers offer expanded hours and are open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, and at least from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, including holidays. Novant Health partnership to bring new urgent-care centers to Charlotte

Novant Health and GoHealth Urgent Care are partnering to bring at least 15 urgent-care facilities to the Charlotte and Winston-Salem markets.

The first of these facilities is scheduled to open in Winston-Salem in early 2019, followed by new and renovated locations in the Charlotte region over the next year to year and a half.

The Novant Health-GoHealth Urgent Care centers will treat minor ailments, such as cuts, urinary tract infections, asthma and muscle sprains. Patients can check in online or walk in, and as with Novant locations currently open, they have access to the online portal, MyChart. The urgent-care centers will also have on-site laboratories and X-ray capabilities.

“This new consumer-focused health care concept will allow us to reach more patients and better meet their needs," says Carl Armato, president and chief executive officer of Novant Health, which is headquartered in Winston-Salem.

Novant currently operates 19 urgent-care locations in the Charlotte region. It also operates nine Express Care sites here — a more low-cost, retail-style form of care.

The first locations locally to transition into partnership facilities are:

  • 445 S. Kings Drive in midtown (current UC location)
  • 9600 E. Independence Blvd. in Matthews (current UC location)
  • 8450 Park Road in Quail Hollow (current UC location)
  • 15235 John J. Delaney Drive in Ballantyne (current Express Care location)

Novant declined to give details on how the spaces will be upfitted.

The partnership with Novant brings GoHealth into the Southeast market. Founded by Access Clinical Partners in mid-2014, GoHealth has facilities in California, Connecticut, Missouri, New York, Oregon and Washington. GoHealth partners with major health systems in these states, including Legacy Health, based in the Portland-Vancouver area, and Dignity Health of California.

Novant is the seventh-largest employer in Charlotte with about 9,700 employees.

Northwell Health-GoHealth Urgent Care and Cohen Children’s Medical Center Partner to provide pediatric urgent care services

Two pediatric-only urgent care centers now open in Five Towns and East Northport, NY

NEW YORK, N.Y. (September 6, 2018)In collaboration with Cohen Children’s Medical Center, Northwell Health-GoHealth Urgent Care, the partnership between New York state’s largest health system and one of the country’s largest and fastest-growing urgent care companies, today announced the opening of state-of-the-art, pediatric urgent care centers in Five Towns and East Northport, Long Island.

These two pediatric-only facilities focus specifically on infants, children and adolescents, giving families greater access to personalized, convenient and affordable medical care. The Cohen Children’s/Northwell Health-GoHealth Urgent Care centers provide unparalleled experiences and serve as a child-friendly alternative to costlier, more time-consuming emergency room visits for non-life-threatening injuries like ear infections, fever, diarrhea, burns, cuts, bladder infections, colds, coughs or asthma.

“As a leader in pediatric care, our patients now have the option to visit Cohen Children’s Northwell Health-GoHealth Urgent Care centers to receive the highest-quality pediatric care for non-life-threatening injuries and illnesses, particularly those that happen unexpectedly or outside of regular business hours,” said Charles Schleien, MD, executive director of Cohen Children’s Medical Center, and senior vice president, executive director and chair of pediatric services at Northwell Health. “We are pleased to bring best-in-class pediatric urgent care to the Five Towns and East Northport communities.”

Designed to create an effortless experience for families and their children, the new pediatric urgent care centers feature large, engaging exam rooms that can accommodate strollers and siblings, child-sized rest rooms, germ-free entertainment tablets, and comforting colors and accents proven to help reduce anxiety in children. Available seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., the Five Towns and East Northport pediatric urgent care centers are staffed by board-certified pediatricians trained in Cohen Children’s high-quality care protocols and procedures. In addition, as part of the Northwell Health-GoHealth Urgent Care network, the Five Towns and East Northport centers are integrated with Northwell Health’s and Cohen Children’s electronic health records to ensure uninterrupted and informed care. The centers also accept most major insurance plans.

“This partnership combines Cohen Children’s Medical Center’s pediatric expertise with Northwell Health-GoHealth Urgent Care’s leadership in urgent care to address the need for greater pediatric care options close to home,” said Adam Boll, vice president of operations at Northwell Ventures. “We look forward to serving the families of Five Towns and East Northport in settings that are designed to welcome our youngest patients.”

For the 12th consecutive year, Cohen Children’s Medical Center was ranked among the nation’s best by U.S. News & World Report, earning top 50 national rankings for exceptional care in eight pediatric specialties – more than any other hospital on Long Island or Queens.

The Five Towns pediatric urgent care center is located at 1332 Peninsula Boulevard, and the East Northport pediatric urgent care center is located at 4199 Jericho Turnpike. Both centers are open and accepting patients as of September 7. The Five Towns center will be hosting a grand opening ceremony on September 27 at 10 a.m. ET.
