Important COVID-19 Information

Center Visit Process: What you need to know

  1. We strongly recommend that patients save their spot online for their in-center visit. This provides greater convenience to you, and allows our team to prepare for your visit.

  2. Whether you have checked-in in advance or are just walking in, we ask that you call the center upon arrival. You will be asked to wait in your car or outside, and our queuing system will send a text message when a provider is ready to see you. Please note: For safety, ONLY patients being treated, guardians of minor patients, and those accompanying patients requiring special assistance are permitted to enter our centers at this time.

  3. If you wish to be evaluated for COVID-19 due to symptoms or exposure, please consider using our Virtual Visit service. For your own safety, and that of our other patients and our team, you can be evaluated via video using a smartphone, tablet, or computer.

Please note: testing requirements, as mandated by the NYS Department of Health, have recently changed. Going forward, only patients who are at the highest risk for severe disease, and essential personnel, with COVID-19 symptoms, will be tested.

Frequently Asked Questions on COVID-19 Testing

Q: Can I get tested for COVID-19?

A: Testing requirements, as mandated by the NYS Department of Health, have recently been updated and only patients who are at the highest risk for severe disease, and essential personnel, with COVID-19 symptoms will be tested.

If you wish to be evaluated for COVID-19 due to symptoms or exposure, please consider using our Virtual Visit service.

Q: Do I need an appointment for the test and can I walk in?

We strongly recommend that patients save their spot online for their in-center visit.

Whether you have checked-in in advance or are just walking in, please call the center upon arrival to let the team know. You will be asked to wait in your car or outside, and our queuing system will send a text message when a provider is ready to see you.
Note: Only patients who are at the highest risk for severe disease, and essential personnel, with COVID-19 symptoms will be tested.

Q: How long do I have to wait for test results if I do get tested?

Patients who have been tested for COVID-19 at a Northwell Health-GoHealth Urgent Care center should receive text message updates daily regarding results status, provided you opted-in to receive texts. You can also log in to your Patient Portal to check status. Once the results are in, a team member will call you to discuss them and any follow up that may be required. Please avoid calling the center for status or results before being contacted by our team.

Q: Should I go to the ER if I have COVID-19 symptoms

A: If your symptoms are severe (trouble breathing, chest pain, fainting, uncontrollable pain) or you feel like you need to be hospitalized, you should seek emergency care right away. If your symptoms are mild to moderate, you can save your spot at a center or schedule a Virtual Visit.

Q: What if I wish to be seen for non-COVID-19 related illness or injury?

A: As always, we are available to care for non-life threatening illness or injuries in all of our centers. We still strongly recommend that patients save their spot and check-in online for their in-center visit, and ask that our temporary protocol is followed for your safety. Alternatively, many common illnesses and injuries can be evaluated via Virtual Visit service. See the full list here.
