COVID-19 Travel Testing Information

Whether you’re traveling for business or pleasure - it's now easier to get tested for COVID-19 prior to travel. Depending on your destination, a negative COVID-19 test result (within 72 hours of your travels) may be required to avoid a mandatory quarantine period.

At GoHealth Urgent Care we offer both PCR and Rapid COVID-19 testing - with convenient evaluation options to fit your schedule. You have the choice to walk-in, save your spot online at a nearby center for an evaluation and test or schedule a virtual clinical evaluation and then go to a local center for a quick in-person test.

Please note: PCR testing is not available at our Oregon and Washington centers.

What is the Rapid COVID-19 Test?

The Abbott ID NOW molecular rapid COVID-19 test was authorized by the FDA under an emergency use authorization in healthcare settings. The Rapid COVID-19 Test provides results within approximately 15 minutes.

  • The test starts with taking a swab from the nose or the back of the throat, then mixing it with a chemical solution that breaks open the virus and releases its RNA.
  • Using the molecular technology from the Abbott ID NOW system, the mixture is inserted into an ID NOW machine that has the technology to identify and amplify select sequences of the coronavirus genome and ignore contamination with other viruses.

How Does a Virtual COVID-19 Evaluation Work?

After a virtual clinical evaluation with a provider, we'll schedule you with a testing appointment at a specific GoHealth Urgent Care center near you. Within approximately 15 minutes of your Rapid COVID-19 Test, you'll know if you're negative for COVID-19 and we'll give you directions on the next steps.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long will I have to wait for my results?

If you receive a Rapid COVID-19 Test, your test results will be available on-site in approximately 15 minutes. PCR test results are typically available in 2-3 days. Test results can be found online in your Patient Portal.

If you’re traveling internationally with American Airlines, you'll need to download the VeriFLY app and upload your negative test information before boarding your flight.

How will GoHealth Urgent Care know which test I need for my destination?

You are responsible for understanding the testing requirements for your travel destination and should request the required test during your visit at a GoHealth Urgent Care center. We recommend reviewing the CDC Travel Testing page, as well as the American Airline requirements before scheduling your visit.

How far in advance can I schedule my clinical evaluation and test?

Scheduling is available 72 hours in advance. All GoHealth Urgent Care centers are open 7 days a week, including holidays.

Is COVID-19 testing free?

Patient responsibility, or your out-of-pocket cost, for COVID-19 testing is based on your specific insurance coverage and plan. Please contact your insurance carrier for details about your plan details and coverage, including copays, before you visit to understand your financial responsibility. For patients without insurance, we have same-day self-pay rates available upon request.

Can I walk in for a COVID-19 test?

Yes, walk-in visits are available at all centers during open hours. Please note that not all centers have rapid testing.

Can I get tested multiple times for COVID-19?

If you have received a positive COVID-19 test result previously, you should not be tested again for at least 2 weeks from the date of your last test.

If you tested negative for COVID-19 previously, you may schedule another clinical evaluation and test at any of our centers or through our Virtual Visit platform.
