Recently, CBS News York (channel 2) aired a television segment featuring Northwell Health-GoHealth Urgent Care.
A Visit to Northwell Health-GoHealth Urgent Care
In the segment, CBS2’s Dr. Max Gomez followed local resident David Weiner into a Northwell Health-GoHealth Urgent Care center. In an article posted to the CBS New York website, Weiner said, “I had a sore throat for the past few days and wanted to get checked out, and a rash on my hands and face.”
Weiner was greeted by Northwell Health-GoHealth Urgent Care staff and treated by Dr. J.D. Zipkin. Within 30 minutes, Weiner checked out of the center. Dr. Zipkin provided a treatment plan for Weiner’s sore throat and determined that the rash was poison ivy.
What did Weiner think of the urgent care experience?
In the article, Weiner said, "You are seen quickly and get good service, and much easier than going to my primary care doctor."
Urgent Care vs. Emergency Room
In the CBS2 segment, Northwell Health-GoHealth Urgent Care’s Zipkin noted that urgent care visits shouldn’t completely replace doctor’s visits or visits to the emergency room.
According to Zipkin, "The time that is not appropriate to go to urgent care is things that really need the emergency room like heart attack, strokes, major motor vehicle accidents or any other large trauma that really needs an emergency room."
