Hartford HealthCare-GoHealth Urgent Care Unveils New Care Model

Hartford HealthCare-GoHealth’s 27th location combines in-person and virtual care to serve the neighborhood and busy professionals

HARTFORD, CT (December 18, 2023) – Hartford HealthCare-GoHealth Urgent Care opened its first location in downtown Hartford today at 100 Pearl St.

The Health Desk @ 100 Pearl is an innovative new care delivery model from Hartford HealthCare-GoHealth that’s customized to serve the healthcare needs of the increasing number of residents in Hartford, commuters, college students and working professionals in downtown Hartford. It offers on-site virtual urgent care visits with highly skilled providers, plus on-site testing services.

“It’s not always convenient for people to get the care they need. Driving to see a provider can be difficult and there are limited healthcare options in the downtown area. They also may not have a private and comfortable space to take a virtual appointment,” said Eric Walsh, M.D., medical director of Hartford HealthCare-GoHealth Urgent Care. “The Health Desk @ 100 Pearl is geared to meet those needs. It gives people quick and easy access to non-emergent care and testing downtown. All they have to do is walk in.”

About The Health Desk @ 100 Pearl

Hartford HealthCare-GoHealth has been collaborating with Hartford HealthCare for several years to develop an efficient and affordable care option for the health system’s colleagues who work at its downtown headquarters in the 100 Pearl building, as well as the many residents and college students in Hartford. The result is an innovative, new way for people to fit managing their health into their busy lives. The Health Desk @ 100 Pearl is in downtown Hartford with street-level access to make it easy for people who live and work nearby to access care.

“Hartford HealthCare is dedicated to transforming health care for the better. We are working to improve access to the highest-quality healthcare in the most affordable settings- and this is another of example of how we are doing just that, ” said Jeffrey A. Flaks, president and CEO of Hartford HealthCare. “With our partners at GoHealth Urgent Care, we are excited to bring a new type of on-demand care to 100 Pearl St. in downtown Hartford. This will provide much-needed healthcare to the city of Hartford’s residents, to the many students in the area and to working professionals in and outside the building. We are proud to innovate and improve access to world-class health care.”

The new location builds on the award-winning design familiar to Hartford HealthCare-GoHealth patients, with two private rooms with video conferencing equipment to give patients a private, comfortable space to meet with a Hartford HealthCare-GoHealth provider virtually. The Health Desk @ 100 Pearl offers care for a wide variety of non-life-threatening conditions, including allergies and asthma, minor skin injuries or rashes, urinary tract infections, and COVID or flu—with the added benefit of on-site vitals and testing.

A Hartford HealthCare-GoHealth medical assistant is on-site to take vitals and administer diagnostic tests for non-life-threatening illnesses and injuries, including urinary tract infections (UTIs), strep throat and COVID-19. Patients can walk into The Health Desk @ 100 Pearl for quick care 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. They may also go online to save a spot and pre-register.

A growing network of on-demand care

Hartford HealthCare-GoHealth services provide a more affordable option for safe and efficient care outside of higher-cost settings like the emergency department, without sacrificing quality. When patients require follow-up care with a specialist, Hartford HealthCare-GoHealth is a direct connection to Hartford HealthCare’s robust network of care, which regularly earns national recognition for excellence in quality and safety.

The Health Desk @ 100 Pearl is the third new Hartford HealthCare-GoHealth location to open in 2023, following openings in West Haven and Derby, and the 27th to serve Connecticut. For details about Hartford HealthCare-GoHealth and other locations, visit www.gohealthuc.com/hartford.
