Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to do anything after getting tested for Hawaii?

Prior to arrival in Hawaii, all adults 18 years of age and older are required to create an online account, register with the Safe Travels Hawai‘i program and upload the negative travel test result to this Safe Travels Hawai‘i account. All passengers under the age of 18 must be listed under the account of a registered adult. Completing Hawaiʻi’s Safe Travels program application form and obtaining your QR code(s) for Hawaii airport processing PRIOR TO the date of departure will significantly reduce your screening and processing time once you arrive in Hawaii.

How do I upload my Negative COVID-19 Results to the Safe Travels Hawai’i portal?

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the State of Hawaii has changed its rules for entry and now requires a negative COVID-19 test result, administered by an approved partner organization, to be uploaded to their Safe Travels Hawai’i portal prior to entry into Hawaii in order to avoid a 10 day quarantine period. You must first create an account on the Safe Travels Hawai’i website. Once you have your Negative Rapid COVID-19 Test results, you must download a PDF version of the results and upload them to the Safe Travels Hawai’i Program in the "Documents" section.

How will I pay for my virtual clinical evaluation and rapid test?

Cost and payment process will depend on your location and individual health insurance plans. GoHealth Urgent Care is in-network with most major insurance plans.

If you plan to get tested on-site at San Francisco International Airport, insurance will not be billed, and you will be charged $225 per person at the time of the test. This charge can be paid by credit card at SFO at the time of service.

When should I get tested for the Safe Travels Hawaii program?

Your test must be completed within 72 hours of your departure time to Hawaii. If you have a multi-city flight itinerary, the “departure time” is from the last city you leave before arriving at a Hawaii airport. Please ensure you plan accordingly and get tested within this required time frame, as test results obtained outside of this time period will not accepted by the State of Hawaii.

How far in advance can I reserve my evaluation and test?

In-center and Virtual Visits can be reserved up to 72 hours in advanced. If you are scheduling a Virtual Visit evaluation, please know that your test is not guaranteed to be same day.

Where can I find my test results?

A paper copy of your test results will be available onsite in approximately 15 minutes after your test is complete. Your results will also be available to you electronically in your patient portal within 24 hours and can be downloaded in PDF format.

What type of Rapid COVID-19 Test is administered at GoHealth Urgent Care?

At GoHealth Urgent Care centers, our staff administers the Anterior Nare - Sars-CoV-2 RNA Assay, Nucleic Acid Amplification Test (NAAT) using the Abbott ID NOW technology. This test is approved for the Safe Travels Hawai’i program.

How long will I have to wait for my results?

Rapid results will be available in approximately 15 minutes. If you choose not to wait at the center for results, they will be available on the Patient Portal within approximately 24 hours.

Can I go to multiple Hawaiian Islands with my negative COVID-19 test results?

According to the State of Hawaii, travel between islands is acceptable but there may be quarantine requirements. A partial inter-county travel quarantine requirement applies to all persons traveling to and between the islands of Kaua‘i, Maui, and the island of Hawai‘i. It also does not apply to trans-Pacific travelers connecting through Daniel K. Inouye International Airport on O‘ahu. Learn more here.
